BullsEye Racing Electronics made the trek to Willowbank Raceway to spectate at the 2nd round of the International New Year Series held on Saturday the 16th of January.
After spending most of the day assisting a number of customers with their weather stations, delivering orders and catching up with other racers, we headed for the stands to take in some racing.
And what a great night it was! Of the 9 brackets, BullsEye Racing customers were in no less than 6 finals, just going to prove how an investment with BullsEye Racing Electronics can help you go rounds.
For the record, here are the results:
- Super Street - Damien Morris – Winner
- Super Comp - Peter Clark - Runner Up
- Supercharged Outlaws – Bryan Marsden - Runner Up
- Super Sedan – Darren Doeblien – Runner Up
- Super Gas - Dave Gauldie – Runner Up
- Junior Dragster – Kassidie Spencer – Runner Up
And here is an event recap from the Super Street winner Damien Morris...
“After a dry spell of about of over 12 months I finally cracked a major meet at Willowbank, with my last final in November 08. It was a trying day with the heat, but with the weather station and data from the 1st round of the series I thought I was in with a fighting chance if only I could pull good lights.
The first run was a 7:46am on Saturday morning and the track was good as it always is at Willowbank. I had an ok light of .103 and car ran an 11.623 with a prediction of 11.64; a good start to the day.
Second qualifier went well but I got a bit of wheel spin, ran a bit slower and I pushed the tree to hard with a -.004 red light. Third qualifier, the car ran spot on the prediction and I went .004 on the tree.
After an 8 hr break between qualifying and racing I was getting bored so I played on the practice tree for a while to amuse myself and had a good spread of lights, very consistent and all around .030ish.
1st round got a break with my opponent red lighting and I ran marginally off my dialin. 2nd round was at 10.30pm (getting sleepy) and had a great tight race. I out reacted my opponent and forced him to break out. 3rd round was another good close race and once again I out reacted my opponent forcing them to breakout. 4th round and I thought I’d just won the lotto. I got my 1st by run in 15 yrs of racing and it was straight to the final. Once again I pulled a good light and broke out but it was the only run that I hadn’t backed off.
In the final I cut a .014 light against a .088 from the current track champion. Another back off and I see the win light come on in my lane. I won! It’s now 12.09am Sunday morning and I’m really tired.
Without the my PerformAIRE weather station it would have been a real guess as to dialins for racing (they pay for themselves), and the Portatree practice tree not only kept me entertained during an 8 hr break it has really helped my lights in the 12 or so months I’ve had it. Thank you BullsEye.”
Contgratualtions to Damien and all the other finalists. And a special thank you to Terri and Warren Sander of Mama's Toy Racing for their hospitality during our stay.
